Serenidad de Lo de Marcos is an international destination resort with a unique planning and design approach responsive to the local eco-system, the beauty of the natural landscape, and the economic, social, and cultural needs of the community of Lo de Marcos. The project emphasizes sustainable design, including the use of solar and wind energy, irrigation with recycled stormwater and graywater collected and processed in retention ponds and eco-swales, and design strategies which minimize the need for artificial lighting and air-conditioning. The buildings integrate into the topography and natural landscape, which is enhanced by an educational nature trail through a nature preserve at the environmentally-sensitive estuary. The resort is comprised of a 72 room boutique hotel, a 275 room resort hotel, 140 casitas, and 24 hill-top villas, in addition to 12 shops and 4 restaurants, situated on a 100 acre property with 1000 feet of beach-front, only 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta.
